It’s nice to know I’m not the only one in the world obsessed with food.

🙂

So to celebrate I wanted to make something I have never seen before:

Neapolitan Scones

Why you say?

Well, I’ve seen Neapolitan desserts, ice cream, cakes, cupcakes, donuts, fudge. But I have yet to stubble across a Neapolitan Scone recipe.

And why not?  How can you mess up these 3 classic flavors?

real butter

Start with real butter and real sugar.

I used my food processor and dough hook attachment.

scone dough

My dough was very moist, not very scone-like. Might add more flour next time to stiffen it up a bit.

wpid-imag2241.jpgDivide the dough into 3 equal parts and to one bowl mix in the strawberry bits and food coloring.

hot pink dough

I think I added a bit too much pink… Whoops

After mixing the chocolate dough, start layering each batter portion into the sprayed springform pan.

I started with the chocolate dough, pressing it up to the outer rim, then added the strawberry dough pressing it along the chocolate layer.

Finally, drop the vanilla dough into the center and press out to even the whole batter.

Bake for 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Add ingredients to Food Processor with Dough Hook attachment. Pulse until dough forms. Divide dough into 3 equal portions. Add cocoa mix to 1/3. Add cherry juice, food coloring, and dried strawberries bits to 1/3 extra dough. Leave 1/3 dough plain and add 1/2 tsp. vanilla. Using an 8-inch springform pan, sprayed with Baking Spray, Take the chocolate dough and form the outer ring in the pan. Next, take the strawberry dough and form the middle layer. Finally, drop the vanilla dough in the center and carefully press to make an even layer of dough throughout. Bake at 375 F for 25 minutes.
Recipe Notes

My dough was more "cakey" than "sconey".  But still delicious.
